BLOSSOM AND GROW BLOG HOP : Day 18 | 3 yard beginner friendly quilt
BLOSSOM AND GROW BLOG HOP:
3 yard beginner friendly quilt | Montgomery Quilt Company
July 7, 2022
Hello everyone and welcome to day 18 of the Blossom and Grow Blog Hop!
Today Kimberly from Montgomery Quilt Company, located in Montgomery, Texas is our maker.
She made the most precious quilt with Blossom and Grow. I love how she incorporated all of the sentiments from the sentiments panel into this quilt.
Let’s see what Kimberly has to say about this quilt.
Hi! I’m Kimberly Baird and I own the Montgomery Quilt Shop in Montgomery, Texas.
When the previous owner, Amy, announced in the fall of 2019 that she was closing the shop, I went to see her to get the scoop. As I was walking out my door, my husband called out "Find out if she wants to sell" and an idea was born.
It took longer than expected but we opened on March 6, 2020, a week before my state shut down😜
To say it’s been in interesting first few years is an understatement!
But I absolutely love it.

HER PROJECT
Kimberly’s project is a 3 Yard Quilt Pattern from Fabric Café called Urban Chic.
With this economically-priced pattern, you simply take 3, one-yard cuts of fabric, plus a few hours, and make a beautiful quilt top with binding and borders.
The pattern includes an assembly diagram and step-by-step directions that make your cutting and piecing a breeze!
Finished size of quilt: 43 x 61 inches (109.22 x 154.94 cm)
You can purchase the pattern here from the Montgomery Quilt Company website.
Which fabrics would you choose for this project?
FABRIC CHOICES
One of my favorite things to do in the shop so make samples so everyone can see the beauty in all of the fabrics. Sadly, there just aren’t enough hours in the day to make everything I would like to make!
When StudioE Fabric’s Blossom and Grow line, by Maureen came in, I knew I had to make something that would show off the pretty 24” positive sentiments panel.
I searched for the perfect pattern, and found it, in Fabric Cafe’s Urban Chic quilt pattern.

SEW EASY TO MAKE
This project is very simple to make. It took me longer to fussy cut the panels than it did to cut the rest of the fabric!
FABRIC PULL
This is Kimberly’s fabric pull for this quilt.
She is also gifting one lucky reader this kit shown here today.
Leave a nice comment here for Kimberly to be entered to win this quilt kit by midnight July 7th 2022 EST.
TIPS FROM KIMBERLY
This biggest tip I have on this project is to nest your seams so you can have nice crisp joints!
All of the panel isn’t used in the quilt top, so I used some of the extras in the backing - I love being able to tie the two sides to each other.
We are well stocked and can’t wait to meet you…
MY SEWING JOURNEY
I started sewing about 12 years ago. I got into a huge fight with my sewing machine when I first started, so I did everything by hand - piecing, quilting and binding.
Since then, I’ve bought the shop, made up with my machine, and started using her again. We have come to an understanding 😜
Unfortunately, there is not enough time to do hand work for samples. But it’s my true joy, and I love to hand sew whenever I can.
We think you need more fabric…
